I got to spend the July 4th with good friends at the W Fort Lauderdale Hotel. We stayed on the 19th floor so our vantage point for viewing the fireworks was spectacular. I shot these with my Nikon D700, Nikon 70-200 2.8 lens, ISO 200, F11 and the shutter speed was set to bulb. With all really low shutter speeds you cannot hand hold the camera; a tripod is a must as well as a cable release to click the shutter. You just don’t want any movement when that shutter closes. With that being said, I set the focus on the lens to the infinity symbol and then played with how long I kept the shutter open (between 2 and 10 seconds).
My editing consisted of a HDR plug-in on a few of the images and just basic LR adjustments on the rest (blacks, saturation, clarity, cropping, etc.) I also tried to shoot some images that showed the landscape so you would get a feel for where I was when the images where photographed.

I had a wonderful time at Hooligans in Boca Raton listening to some great reggae bands. I was invited by my friend Rob Tischler, lead singer of Black Bean Soup. It was such a treat to watch him and his band members perform. You guys rocked the house!
